STS (abbreviation СТС from Russian: Сеть Телевизионных Станций, Set 'Televizionnykh Stantsiy, Network of TV Stations) is a commercial television station based in Moscow, Russia. It belongs to CTC Media. The company belongs to the National Media Group (Russia) and VTB Bank (Russia).
In 1994, Channel Six Petersburg (now owned by CTC Media StoryFirst Communications) began expanding outside of St. Petersburg. Some local stations started rebroadcasting this station: Telesphere (Krasnoyarsk), AMTV (Moscow), Zenit (Oryol), TSM Channel 10 (Novobirisk, rebroadcast in 1991 but disoriented in 1995).
In December 1996, AMTV went into financial crisis, most of the founders had left. He later joined StoryFirst Communications (then owned by a regional television station in Russia). AMTV later joined these stations, leading to the creation of STS.
STS was released on December 1, 1996.
In 2002, Alexander Rodnyansky became General Manager of STS. During his leadership, the channel ratings showed a rapid and significant increase. 2006 - the best year in the history of STS. Subsequently, the average share of the channel's audience reached the highest level - 10.4% (audience "Russia, all viewers over four years").
